About the position
The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Electrophysics/Optical Engineer in El Segundo, CA to support multiple space programs. This position involves the design, build, and testing of medium to high power EDFAs for source generation and intensity optimization. The role also includes the development of algorithms for detection, modulation, and encoding, as well as the creation of high-speed/low timing jitter optical detectors for precision timing and communication for spacecraft systems. Additionally, the design of circuitry to create high repetition rate pulsed lasers is included, along with requirements development for laser communication systems for satellite communications. This position is expected to be 100% onsite, and the selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance Post Start is required.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Lab experience with the use of lasers and optical amplifiers including optical bench test configurations to verify pulsed and CW laser systems at low to medium power.
