About the position

Far Ridgline Engagements, a QinetiQ US company, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Telecommunications) to join our team supporting a Government Client in Reston, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Design and install equipment used for transmitting wired phone, cellular, cable, and broadband data.
  • Work with copper or fiberoptic cabling, complex networks, and switching systems.
  • Examine new network technologies and offer suggestions regarding integration.
  • Ensure network availability and provide necessary maintenance and support.
  • Plan, schedule, and play an active role in the equipment installations.
  • Design and conduct network test and evaluation activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for network interoperability and integration.
  • Perform system-level design and configuration of products.
  • Configure networks to ensure smooth transmission of data that fulfills customer objectives.
  • Oversee new and existing telecom hardware and software upgrades.
  • Evaluate and resolve technical issues related to computer, server, network, and voice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, electrical, or electronics engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in design, installation, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems and related software.
  • Experience working with complex network and switching systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing LAN, WAN, Wireless LAN, and WWAN.
  • Analytical, creative, and methodical problem solver with good concentration and excellent math skills.
  • In-depth understanding of existing and emerging technologies.
  • Experience developing supporting documentation, such as routing plans, network maps, and disaster recovery.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate, Professional (CCNA, CCNP).
  • Technical understanding of network hardware, internet standards, and protocols.
  • Successful Completion of Pre-Employment Background Investigation required.
  • Current TS/SCI Clearance with CI poly, or ability to obtain poly prior to start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current (in scope) counterintelligence polygraph.
