About the position

X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Global Business Development team in the role of Senior Director, Projects. This role is responsible for the defining, planning, direction, and execution of projects in line with the company values, approach, standards, and processes. Work is at strategic and tactical levels to understand and document customer/client needs, shape and agree commercial objectives, ensure clarity on contractual and technical requirements, communicate project needs and responsibilities to support organizations, plan and manage stakeholder engagement and ensure project execution is consistent with the customer's expectations. This includes shaping the commercial deal, planning the implementation approach, shaping, and defining schedule, cost and quality parameters, identifying and managing risks and opportunities and managing / working collaboratively with project office, engineering, licensing, supply chain, construction functions and support functions. As a leadership position, this role involves identifying team roles and capability requirements, staffing the project, leading, and motivating the team to successfully deliver project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Define the overall scope and execution strategy for new projects.
  • Support and engage in new business pursuit and capture efforts to ensure proposed strategies, plans and commercial objectives can be successfully delivered in contract execution.
  • Develop the required baseline documentation (Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and WBS Dictionary, the Organization Breakdown Structure (OBS) schedule, project plan, deliverables, contract data items, other contractually defined elements).
  • Facilitate inputs and performance commitments from the organizations/departments that support project execution (Finance, Subcontracts/Procurement, Engineering, Licensing, Quality/Safety, etc.).
  • Oversee performance of subcontractors, partners, and department staff through interim reports, status meetings, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Establish and manage project controls, governance arrangements and performance measures including risk and opportunity management, scheduling / project planning, document management, schedule adherence and variance, cost adherence / variance analysis / earned value, quality management, deliverables status, specification adherence.
  • Define deliverable acceptability / QA criteria aligned to X-energy's QA program.
  • Develop and present presentations that document project progress, issues, risks, and completion measurement.
  • Represent the company to external markets and stakeholders through industry engagements, customer-led seminars, regulatory presentations, etc.
  • Actively support the safety culture and ensure integration of quality in all relevant processes.
  • Serve as a leadership role model, embodying and promoting X-energy values internally and externally.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline is required.
  • Ideally, Masters degree and / or accounting qualification is preferred.
  • Twenty plus years' experience as a project manager / director and/or engineering manager on energy / nuclear / petrochemical or high-technology hardware system or large-scale infrastructure delivery projects.
  • Ten plus years' experience working as a project engineer / manager / director on projects in the $5M-20M/year range.
  • Fifteen plus years' experience in team leadership.
