About the position

The Senior Director of Cloud Platform Engineering and Operations is responsible for leading the design, development, and operational management of cloud computing solutions. This role requires extensive knowledge in cloud technologies, databases, and software architecture, with a focus on enhancing existing software architectures and envisioning future improvements. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence, while fostering a diverse and capable engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage software design and development tasks for cloud applications, operating systems, and databases.
  • Build enhancements within existing software architecture and envision improvements.
  • Define technology and operational strategy and support roadmaps.
  • Recruit and build a diverse, capable, and cohesive engineering team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and envision the future state of the Cloud Platform.
  • Translate and communicate impactful business stories that drive action.
  • Foster strong partnerships with Operations, Support, Product Management, and Engineering across divisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years leading complex technical/engineering product and cloud service teams, primarily in a cloud environment.
  • 5+ years of recent experience in leadership roles.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in cloud computing, cloud services, databases, or big data technologies.
  • Experience with AWS technologies and building Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities.
  • Demonstrated record of coaching and mentoring Engineering leaders on both technical and management career tracks.
