About The Position

Inside the Role The Controls Engineer will be the lead controls engineering contact addressing open issues on new and existing equipment, developing and implementing continuous improvement projects designed to achieve key equipment KPI indicators on current assembly lines, and addressing daily performance issues on an as needed basis. Role is for 3rd Shift What You Drive at DTNA Implement and support hardware and software for PLC, CNC & HMI controls. Implement and support device level networks. Implement and support servo and variable frequency drive hardware and software Implement and support manufacturing monitoring systems with emphasis on interfacing to higher level systems. Apply controls technology to new and existing processes to provide optimal manufacturing solutions. Specify, manage and assist with control designs for new manufacturing equipment procurement. Provide controls technical assistance and support to manufacturing operations. Participate in teams and cross-functional groups. Sound knowledge of Daimler internal processes preferred. Analytical thinking, assertiveness and communication skills, capacity for teamwork. Strong commitment and flexibility. Read and understand electrical schematics. Participate in weekend production coverage rotation with fellow CE’s.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical
  • 5-7 years experience in manufacturing equipment hardware and software design practices & standards (i.e. PLC’s, HMI’s, servo systems, safety, etc.)
  • Experience with Robots: Fanuc & Kuka
  • Siemens PLC's: S7-300 and S7-1500
  • Siemens Software: Step 7, TIA Portal, Starter
  • Proficient with PC hardware and commercially available software (i.e. Windows, etc.)
  • Knowledge of networks & database operation
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC's, drives, servos and software
  • Analytical thinking, assertiveness and communication skills, capacity for teamwork.
  • Strong commitment and flexibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Sound knowledge of Daimler internal processes preferred.
  • Union Shop Experience
