About the position

The Senior Consultant in Healthcare Services at Alvarez & Marsal will work closely with healthcare clients to address complex business challenges, focusing on financial and operational improvements. This role involves leveraging independent judgment and critical thinking to gather data, design solutions, and implement strategies that drive value for clients across various healthcare sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost structures by redesigning organizational structures and eliminating non-value-added tasks.
  • Optimize the month-end close process and management reporting functions for better decision support.
  • Build and manage financial models and conduct financial analyses, including synergy analyses and cash flow forecasts.
  • Guide clients through crises by structuring and executing performance improvement plans.
  • Develop operational data analyses to create KPI metrics for tracking meaningful change.
  • Conduct client interviews to understand and evaluate their operations.
  • Summarize and draw conclusions from large data sets to create actionable recommendations.
  • Lead various work streams within projects, managing day-to-day engagement priorities with guidance from senior leaders.
  • Prepare client-ready deliverables and presentations, and present findings to clients.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff, both formally and informally.
  • Build relationships with clients to expand business opportunities.
  • Support marketing initiatives by assisting with pitch preparation and creating marketing materials.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of experience in healthcare, consulting, or related fields such as healthcare banking or operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience in financial modeling, including building cash flow forecasts and financial statements.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; experience with Visio, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, or SPSS is a plus.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, including finance, operations, and regulations.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and escalate project issues appropriately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to all levels of client personnel.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • BA/BS degree and/or MBA/MS in Accounting, Finance, or related healthcare fields.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA or CFA, or progress toward such certifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare finance and operations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with benchmarking and data analysis tools.
