About The Position
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at South Florida Reception Center in the Classification Department. Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviours. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Requirements
- Must possess at least possess one year of secretarial or clerical work experience; or possess a Certified Professional Secretary Certificate.
- Vocational/Technical training in an area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 class room hours for the required work experience.
- A high school diploma or its equivalent can can substititute for the required work experience, and previous work experience in a law enforcement or correction setting.
Responsibilities
- Be the backbone of the Classification Department by preparing correspondence, memorandums, and typing essential forms and documents.
- Play a crucial role in the Inmate Records area by maintaining inmate files, conducting audits on new inmates, and preparing necessary forms.
- Showcase your organizational skills by inputting data into the CDC database, retrieving and pringint information, and maintaining classification documentation.
- Keep the department running smoothly by receiving, date stamping, sorting and distributing mail, as well as handling, copying scanning, and faxing of documents.
- Provide top-notch customer service by answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and taking on special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.
