About the position
The Senior Project Monitor will support a federal government client in achieving climate and clean energy goals through the administration of federal grants. This role involves managing grants related to building energy efficiency, renewable energy technology, and sustainable transportation, while providing comprehensive support throughout the grants management lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage award and administration of grants for clean energy projects, providing engineering, technical, and operational leadership support.
- Review and evaluate grant applications with subject matter experts, applying eligibility criteria to determine awardee eligibility.
- Develop and refine program metrics; monitor and assess awardee performance according to established performance metrics.
- Perform advanced technical evaluations to identify corrective actions and recommend refined project requirements.
- Oversee close-out documentation and ensure compliance with federal requirements.
- Write, edit, and review technical documents; deliver briefings and presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, environmental sciences, or related discipline.
- Nine to twelve years of experience managing government financial assistance programs and individual grants, with a preference for federal energy grants.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytic, communication (oral and written), research, and presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review and edit the work of junior staff.
- Ability to pass a U.S. federal government background check and public trust clearance process.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience managing energy grants and cooperative agreements.
- Knowledge of federal energy-specific policies, functional requirements, and regulatory compliance support.
