Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of diverse experience in workers’ compensation claims handling is required.
Minimum of 4 years of claims management experience in California is required.
Solid background in coverage analysis, reserving, claims investigation, and litigation management is required.
Prior work with large or national accounts is required.

Nice To Haves

Expert claims handling knowledge and management experience in at least one of the following jurisdictions is preferred: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, or Utah.

Responsibilities

Oversight and activities of a team of claim professionals.
Day-to-day work and activities of their team.
Performance, development and coaching of their staff, including learning and development of their team.
Help and direct a group of strong, carefully chosen senior level adjusters to focus on fresh, creative, and quick approaches on every claim resulting in proactive claim resolutions.
Determine on each claim the need for attorneys, surveillance, and nurse case managers, and then assign, direct, and monitor the vendor.
Communicate effectively and develop strong relationships with their team members.
Gain buy-in from our insureds regarding the direction each claim is taking.
Develop a strategy of how to best mitigate the potential loss through interaction with the claimant.
Make sure that light duty jobs are available for quick return to work.
