About the position

The Central Services Technician is responsible for all task-based Central Services activities. Central Services activities include, but are not limited to: decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, assembly and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and receiving and distribution of Central Services supplies. The Central Services Technician must be able to decontaminate and assemble surgical instrumentation using an automated Instrument Tracking System. Responsibilities

  • Decontamination of surgical instrumentation
  • Assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation
  • Assembly and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts
  • Paring and replenishment of materials
  • Receiving and distribution of Central Services supplies
  • Utilization of an automated Instrument Tracking System for decontamination and assembly of surgical instrumentation

Requirements

  • Completion of formal Central Services Technician course or successfully challenged Course test
  • National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association upon hire
  • National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution upon hire
  • 3 years related experience with surgical instrumentation in hospital Sterile Processing/Central Services environment

  • Materials management experience
