About the position

This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, Atlanta Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and will be directing the supervisory efforts for the most complex financial institutions. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Responsibilities

  • Directs or conducts ongoing and continuous assessment of risk management practices, financial condition, business initiatives and future prospects of assigned portfolio (caseload) of financial organizations and their affiliates to assess potential risk to the deposit insurance fund.
  • Initiates and conducts conferences and meetings with other supervisory authorities and bank officials, implements formal plans and programs designed to correct deficiencies in the operation of the financial institutions under his/her supervision; and obtain formal commitments from bank affiliates where deemed appropriate by the Regional Director.
  • Prepares periodic (usually quarterly) detailed written assessment of financial condition, material changes in, and future prospects of, the individual financial institution in assigned portfolio (caseload).
  • Monitors the corrective action taken by financial institutions to address supervisory concerns, and in conjunction with examination staff, determines the adequacy of remediation steps taken by financial institutions in his/her portfolio (caseload).

Requirements

  • Must be a commissioned examiner.
  • Completion Of Financial Disclosure May Be Required.
  • Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required.
  • Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social).
  • To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG 14 grade level or above in the Federal service.
