About the position

The Senior Carbon Management Consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting climate change, greenhouse gas, and carbon management projects globally. This position involves providing technical expertise, project management, and strategic leadership while collaborating with various teams and clients to develop sustainable solutions for carbon management. The consultant will be responsible for building client relationships, presenting complex technical information, and contributing to business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support climate change, greenhouse gas, and carbon management projects globally.
  • Act as a senior technical consultant and strategist, providing expertise in project management and regulatory matters.
  • Champion quality, health, and safety in all projects.
  • Build meaningful relationships with clients to address their carbon management challenges.
  • Define and lead the overall technical strategy for clients.
  • Present complex technical information to clients and regulatory stakeholders in an understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with sales and client account management teams to innovate service offerings.
  • Define technical scopes and estimate levels of effort in proposals.

Requirements

  • 15 years' plus experience in carbon management.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience speaking with client senior executives about greenhouse gas inventories and mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of corporate, municipal, and project-based GHG inventories and guidance documents.
  • Experience in carbon markets, including developing carbon offset projects and methodologies.
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of remote practitioners.
  • Experience scoping, pricing, and writing winning proposals for sustainability projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen.
  • Expert knowledge of climate risk and opportunity analysis per TCFD frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of science-based target setting for GHG reductions.
  • Background with environmental life cycle analyses and management of embodied carbon.
  • Experience with projects involving sustainable transportation and resilience.
