About The Position

The Senior Business Analyst (IT) will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in support of our Property & Casualty insurance technology platforms. This role is ideal for a formalized, Agile-experienced Business Analyst who excels at operating in ambiguity, conceptualizing business needs, and translating them into high-quality, executable requirements. This position partners closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and QA teams to ensure solutions address the true business problem (“the why”), not just the stated request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst working with IT teams
  • Strong experience in Agile delivery environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in ambiguous problem spaces
  • Experience with GAP analysis, process modeling, and requirements documentation
  • Proficiency with Jira and Agile tooling
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Property & Casualty insurance experience (Homeowners preferred, not required)
  • Experience with finance or billing-related systems
  • Background supporting QA and testing strategy
  • Familiarity with P&C platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek)
  • BA certifications (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery efforts to understand business goals, pain points, and value driver
  • Conceptualize the ask by uncovering root causes and clarifying ambiguous requirements
  • Translate loosely defined ideas into structured problem statements and solution options
  • Perform end-to-end business analysis using formal BA techniques
  • Conduct GAP analysis to define current-state and future-state capabilities
  • Document requirements using Agile artifacts (user stories, acceptance criteria)
  • Create and maintain business rules, functional documentation, and process flows
  • Operate as a senior BA within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative delivery
  • Use Jira to manage requirements, progress, and dependencies
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT stakeholders
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions
  • Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Partner with QA to define testing strategies aligned to requirements
  • Support UAT, validate outcomes, and assist with defect resolution
  • Develop process flow maps and identify efficiency opportunities
  • Recommend improvements aligned with business strategy and compliance needs
