About the position

The Senior Associate, Portfolio Controlling at RWE Clean Energy is responsible for overseeing the company's obligations to third-party investors under various financing agreements. This role involves close collaboration with external customers and internal departments to ensure compliance, facilitate problem-solving, and enhance project value within the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Support compliance of financial agreement obligations by preparing required deliverables to external financing parties, including monthly operating reports, cash distributions, debt withdrawal certificates, DSCR calculation, tax equity flip models, annual production (PAYGO) reports, etc
  • Prepare materials for and participate in calls with external financing parties to discuss project-level operational and financial performance and commercial issues
  • Coordinate amendments to Key Agreements and consents from investors where applicable
  • Responsible for responding to questions from external financing parties in a timely and professional manner
  • Identify opportunities to buy out or restructure financings
  • Collaborate across business groups to maintain compliance with financing agreements and support overarching strategic and commercial business topics related to external financing parties
  • Pursue best practices, process improvements, standardization and tools that drive gains in efficiency, automation, and quality
  • Support company-wide top priorities and goals and special projects
  • Support project-level EBITDA enhancement ideas and efforts to maximize project value

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, with a background in business, finance, accounting, or tax preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer service/client-facing role
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project economics (specifically wind and solar) and related incentive systems
  • Familiarity with tax equity partnership flip structures, funding models and agreements, debt financing agreements, and debt covenants
  • Experience with contract compliance management preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
