Senior Analytics Engineer

LandingBirmingham, AL

About The Position

Landing is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join their BI team. This is a backend, infrastructure-first role focused on owning the company's dbt models, data pipelines, and warehouse architecture. The role involves ensuring the quality and reliability of data that powers critical business functions for Finance, Operations, and Revenue teams. The ideal candidate will have significant ownership from day one, influencing the data ecosystem's architecture, standards, and roadmap. The role also includes collaborating with consulting partners for a smooth transition of ownership over the current dbt infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence with a strong backend focus.
  • Expert-level dbt experience, including production models at scale, testing, documentation, lineage, and model architecture best practices.
  • Strong SQL skills and deep experience designing data models for analytical use cases.
  • Hands-on Snowflake experience (or comparable cloud warehouse like Redshift, BigQuery, Vertica).
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, understanding ELT patterns, source system integration, and building for reliability.
  • Ability to translate between technical infrastructure and business context.
  • A bias toward documentation, clarity, and ownership.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-moving priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Sigma or Looker for downstream analytics and dashboard development.
  • Familiarity with PropTech, hospitality, or real estate metrics (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, NRR).
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and metric layer tooling (e.g., MetricFlow, dbt Semantic Layer).
  • Python or scripting experience for pipeline automation or data quality tooling.
  • Experience in a high-growth, investor-backed company where data integrity directly supports fundraising and board reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the dbt model library, ensuring models are clean, tested, documented, and aligned with business data usage. This includes onboarding new data sources and pipelines (Heap, Clarity, GA4, and other web-based metrics).
  • Managing Landing’s ELT stack (Stitch, Snowflake, dbt) and associated monitoring and orchestration tooling, focusing on reliability, performance, and lineage clarity.
  • Developing and maintaining a finance and operations data spine, serving as the authoritative source of truth for core executive KPIs, metric definitions, and warehouse logic.
  • Defining analytics engineering standards, making tooling decisions, and shaping the long-term roadmap of the data platform.
  • Building cross-functional data partnerships with Engineering, FP&A, and Accounting, translating between technical infrastructure and business needs.
  • Establishing data quality standards, testing frameworks, and metric governance practices.
  • Supporting executive, board, and investor reporting, directly contributing to high-stakes decision-making and fundraising activities.
  • Collaborating on sprint planning and prioritization for the BI request queue.
