About the position

In this role, you will conduct primary and secondary research on market trends and competitive dynamics in the autonomous mobility space to inform Motional's long-term strategy. You will develop and maintain competitor benchmarking materials outlining key movements, commercial and technology strategies, and financial performance to deliver insights to Motional's management team. Additionally, you will assist in preparing materials for Board of Directors meetings and other official communications with shareholders. You will also develop and maintain a dynamic market sizing model to quantify the total addressable market (TAM) for Motional's target markets and use cases. Partnering with Finance and Commercialization teams, you will support the ongoing maintenance of Motional's commercial business plan and conduct scenario analysis to pressure test key assumptions. Furthermore, you will support Engineering teams to develop strategic product roadmaps and assess new opportunities to leverage Motional's technology, preparing materials for executive review. Lastly, you will conduct secondary research to support various strategy development projects, including transportation landscape analysis across key regions, regulatory analysis, and product and competitive analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain competitor benchmarking materials outlining key movements, commercial and technology strategies, and financial performance.
  • Assist in preparing materials for Board of Directors meetings and other official communications with shareholders.
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic market sizing model to quantify total addressable market (TAM) for Motional's target markets/use cases.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercialization teams to support ongoing maintenance of Motional's commercial business plan and conduct scenario analysis to pressure test key assumptions.
  • Support Engineering teams to develop strategic product roadmaps and assess new opportunities to leverage Motional's technology, and prepare materials for executive review.
  • Conduct secondary research to support various strategy development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, economics, or other relevant field of study.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Strategy Consulting, Corporate Strategy / Development, or other related field, preferably within software/technology or automotive/mobility industries.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to develop executive-ready materials in PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret both quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize multiple data sources into a cohesive, executive-level deliverable.
  • Ability to multitask and work in an organized, detailed manner.
  • Self-starter with the ability to deal with ambiguity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the autonomous vehicle or mobility space is a bonus but not required.
