This new role will be responsible for Planning and Forecasting for Arch Insurance North America on behalf of the actuarial department as well as various enterprising reporting working closely with Arch Cap. This role will be highly visible and have an extremely leveraged effect across the organization. This hands-on professional will build solutions, develop analyses, while helping build a capable team to provide proactive insights and counsel Arch Insurance Group leadership. This position will require the application of the latest actuarial approaches for forecasting, innovative thinking to help drive newly developed strategic vision, and technical skills to leverage available data and maximize efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual planning process working closely with other actuarial functions (Pricing, Reserving & Loss Analytics, and Ceded Re).
  • Facilitate collection of data from Actuaries, Underwriters, Finance, CAT Modeling, and Ceded Re for the Planning process.
  • Determine earned premium and select plan loss ratios for business units in North America at the desired segmentation level.
  • Provide insights, identify the drivers and ensure that the plan loss ratios reflect the latest pricing and reserving views.
  • Produce and enhance various monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Seek opportunities to continuously improve and simplify processes.
  • Analyze and review profitability, margin, and volatility of business units at the desired segmentation level.
  • Build and maintain necessary tools to enhance the planning and reporting processes.

Requirements

  • P&C actuarial qualifications: ACAS preferred.
  • 4+ years of P&C actuarial experience.
  • Technical skills - Excel (expert), SQL (expert), Python (preferred), Snowflake (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills - Attention to detail, work quality, productivity, and creativity.

Benefits

  • Base salary range for Jersey City and NYC: $95,900 - $148,902/year
  • Incentive eligible position
  • Total individual compensation includes base salary, short & long-term incentives.
