About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Technician to join our growing Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information across multiple entities within the organization. In this role, you will be involved in the full accounting cycle, month-end and year-end activities, and the continuous improvement of financial processes. Requirements

  • DEC/AEC in Accounting or equivalent education
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities and general ledger reconciliations
  • Knowledge of government remittances and compliance requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a multi-entity or high-volume transactional environment is a strong asset
  • Payroll experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sage 50, or similar ERP/accounting systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting activities for one or more entities within the organization
  • Process and review accounts payable transactions, including invoice validation, expense coding, and payment preparation
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing, cash applications, collections, and monitoring outstanding balances
  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other month-end adjustments
  • Support monthly and annual closing processes, including account reconciliations and financial analyses
  • Maintain and monitor fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Prepare government remittances, including GST/QST, payroll remittances, and other statutory filings
  • Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations
  • Support external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information
  • Participate in the enhancement of accounting processes and internal controls
  • Assist the Financial Controller with special projects, financial analyses, and ad hoc reporting
