About The Position

Joining the Finance/Accounting Department, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day- to-day Finance and Accounting operations. The Senior Accountant ensures timely reporting of all Financial Statements and Financial Analysis and maintains fiscal records for the Accounting Manager and other key stakeholders. The Senior Accountant is the primary contact for monthly period closing and budgeting. The Senior Accountant also implements, streamlines and improves financial processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years in Project and General Ledger Accounting
  • Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Strong Excel CMS experience
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong oral, written communication and time management skills
  • Excellent work ethic and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with diverse teams

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years accounting experience in engineering services
  • CPA
  • Experience with Deltek Accounting Software
  • Masters in Accounting or similar, or MBA

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the General Ledger daily.
  • Monitoring the postings of journal entries and other sub ledgers.
  • Tracking all expenses coded and verifying the source code to check for errors.
  • Understanding the nuances of invoice processing and project postings.
  • Own monthly reconciliations of balance sheet.
  • Learn and implement various analytics to understand financial statements.
  • Work with Accounting Manager to submit bi-weekly, off-cycle and any bonus payrolls in ADP.
  • Reconcile payroll on a quarterly and year-end basis.
  • Assist Financial controller and Manager with accounting support functions.
  • Assist Project Controls in tracking project progress, flag ambiguous costs, over and under billing, percentage complete.
  • Review and design internal processes for efficiency.
  • Performing Year End Close Activities and Involved in gathering support for auditors.
  • Involved with gathering budget data through processing of historical data.
  • Monitor asset acquisitions, disposals and transfers to ensure proper documentation and timely updates to the fixed asset register.
  • Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
