About The Position

Verde Investments, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This role will be a key contributor to the day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close for a portfolio of real estate and commercial assets. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into an Accounting Manager role within 24 months by taking increasing ownership of responsibilities and duties. The company offers a small, professional office environment where individuals that can work independently but ask questions when needed will thrive.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 3+ years prior accounting experience
  • Proficiency with accounting systems/ERPs; experience with Sage 100 strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work under deadlines
  • Experience with small business accounting preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership, and follow through
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of business taxes (e.g., sales, and income tax concepts) and ability to support tax data requests
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize multiple tasks, manage competing deadlines, and maintain organization

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred (or progress toward certification)

Responsibilities

  • Monthly accounting of assigned entities
  • Record daily cash transactions and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assist with coding and review of accounts payable invoices
  • Prepare month end journal entries and maintain supporting schedules for all balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and analyze trend reports for accuracy
  • Coordinate with external insurance broker on annual renewals; compile asset schedules and provide timely updates on significant purchases/disposals
  • Work with accounting manager to develop an expert level of knowledge of Sage 100 accounting system
  • Act as liaison between Verde Investments and related parties, as well as offsite accountants or management companies at various owned real estate assets
  • Prepare and organize schedules and supporting documentation for year-end and tax preparation (including property and entity-level information as needed)
