Senior Accountant (Hybrid)
About The Position
AeroFarms is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Danville, Virginia. This role will support core accounting operations and play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. The company is a Certified B Corporation and a pioneer in indoor vertical farming, using proprietary technology to grow produce with significantly less water and no pesticides. AeroFarms is recognized for its innovation and is redefining how food is grown and distributed, with products available in over 2,000 stores across the United States. The company is scaling its brand and technology globally.
Requirements
- CPA required
- 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or corporate accounting)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience with accounts receivable, cash reconciliations, and month-end close
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, food production, or high-growth companies a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
Responsibilities
- Manage the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections tracking, and reconciliation of customer accounts
- Prepare and review cash reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of daily cash activity
- Own Inventory accounting, including posting of inventory consumption to production and ending inventory balances each period.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to revenue, receivables, and cash
- Assist with revenue recognition and related accounting analysis
- Partner with operations and sales teams to resolve billing and collection issues
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing supporting schedules and documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
