About The Position

Fastly is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their Accounting team. This role will focus on supporting Fixed Asset and Internal Use Software accounting. The Senior Accountant will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records through journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and KPI updates, with a strong emphasis on SOX-compliant processes and cross-functional coordination. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives working independently with general direction, communicates progress proactively, and takes ownership of their deliverables. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and technically adept team that values continuous learning, system improvement, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate or public accounting
  • Familiarity with global accounting operations and U.S. GAAP (ASC 360 & ASC 350-40)
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and dependable
  • Strong Excel skills (XLOOKUP, pivot tables)
  • Able to work independently with general direction and communicate effectively across teams
  • Comfortable taking ownership of tasks, asking thoughtful questions, and seeing work through to completion

Nice To Haves

  • Audit experience and CPA a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite, FloQast, Coupa, and G-Suite a plus
  • Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use AI tools to enhance workflows and deliver measurable gains in efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute full-cycle Fixed Asset and Internal Use Software accounting including: review of new equipment purchases for capitalization, assess portfolio for impairment triggers, review equipment purchase agreements, input fixed assets into the subledger, review internal-use software development, generate and post journal entries, assess and record accruals, prepare variance analysis, prepare disclosures, and partner with FP&A on Budget vs Actual analysis
  • Update key accounting metrics and support KPI tracking during month-end close
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Product, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and ensure completeness and accuracy of upstream information
  • Proactively communicate task status, escalate issues as needed, and follow through on deliverables
  • Support additional accounting tasks and evolving team needs as assigned — this role will grow over time, and flexibility to take on new responsibilities is key
