About The Position

The Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of HopeWest through accurate accounting practices, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. This position maintains the integrity of the general ledger, assists with financial close processes, prepares financial reporting and analyses, and supports audit and reimbursement activities. The Senior Accountant collaborates with organizational leadership and operational departments to support responsible financial stewardship aligned with HopeWest’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience within healthcare, hospice, home health, or regulated reimbursement environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits, financial reporting, and account reconciliations required.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting practices.
  • Understanding of fund accounting and restricted net asset reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet established deadlines.
  • Proficiency with accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and support organizational goals.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement methodologies, including Medicare and Medicaid, preferred.
