Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including both public accounting and industry.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and inventory accounting.
  • Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment.
  • Hands-on experience with revenue operations or inventory processes.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with ERP or accounting systems (NetSuite, Intacct, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in biotech, life sciences, manufacturing, or R&D-driven industries.
  • Experience implementing or scaling ERP modules for revenue and/or inventory.
  • CPA certification or CPA eligibility.
  • Prior involvement in audit preparation or SOX-lite control frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger schedules.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements.
  • Manage revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, including review of contracts, billing schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with Commercial, Operations, and Legal to ensure proper treatment of customer agreements, licensing arrangements, and service contracts.
  • Maintain deferred revenue schedules and ensure accuracy of contract assets and liabilities.
  • Oversee inventory accounting processes, including tracking, costing, reconciliations, and valuation.
  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D to ensure accurate recording of raw materials, CIP, and finished goods.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of inventory systems and controls appropriate for early-stage production environments.
  • Monitor inventory adjustments, reserves, and cost-of-goods-sold accuracy.
  • Help develop and enhance internal controls and SOPs to support company scale-up.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
  • Assist with external audits and prepare audit-ready documentation.
  • Support ERP system enhancements, integrations, and overall process automation.
  • Provide ad hoc analyses and support special projects as the company grows.
