About The Position

LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. This role involves preparing and reviewing financial records to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance, assessing financial operations, and supporting Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives. The Senior Accountant will report to the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Current (or ability to obtain and maintain) Secret security clearance (T3 background investigation).
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting, business, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Typically requires at least two (2) years of financial audit experience working independently.
  • Must possess expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must possess expert knowledge of general ledger accounting, auditing standards, and processes.
  • Must be able to design, document, and continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Must be able to identify internal control gaps through testing and lead remediation efforts.
  • Must be able to evaluate transaction-level evidential matter to support audit conclusions and financial integrity.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assess financial operations and support Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives.
  • Apply knowledge of general ledger accounting to post entries, balance accounts, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Perform double-entry bookkeeping tasks, including identifying subsidiary accounts affected and determining proper debit and credit entries.
  • Review computer printouts against spreadsheets to detect and correct erroneous postings.
  • Prepare adjustment documents to correct accounting classifications and other data.
  • Review lists of transactions rejected by automated systems, determine reasons for rejections, and prepare correcting transactions.
  • Independently manage workload and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Use Visio extensively to flowchart accounting processes and document workflows.
  • Ensure desk guides exist and are accurate for all accountant positions.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to junior accounting team members to support their development and ensure consistent work quality.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
