About The Position

The Senior Ability Analyst primarily investigates claims to make timely, accurate and customer focused initial and ongoing Long Term Disability benefit determinations using vocational, medical, and financial claim management. The Senior Ability Analyst supports our mission of helping our customers rebuild their lives after an unexpected event or illness happens while following corporate claim standards, policies, and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. Claim complexity varies depending on tenure in role, which may be inclusive of working with customers with behavioral health/mental illnesses and terminal diagnoses. This position supports our GRP business, and we will only consider applicants who are currently GRP STD Analysts at this time.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of claim experience preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a high-level of quality and accuracy, while meeting productivity expectations
  • An ability to adapt to new ideas and situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously
  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Mifi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite
  • Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable
  • minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps will be required

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford CT) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
  • Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain information from the claimant, employer, and medical provider(s) to make Long-Term Disability decisions
  • Analyze medical and financial information to determine eligibility for benefits
  • Provide exceptional customer service using professional written and verbal communication skills
