About the position

The Security Service Technician plays a crucial role in servicing and maintaining commercial security systems, including alarms, access control, and video surveillance. This position involves both technical skills and customer interaction, ensuring that systems are operational and meet client needs. The technician will also be responsible for installation tasks as required and will conduct inspections to maintain compliance and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Service and inspect security equipment as required by customers or Johnson Controls Security Solutions.
  • Conduct on-site system inspections and maintain inspection records through various third-party systems.
  • Prepare estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions from Supervisor.
  • Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
  • Test the operation of systems to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
  • Read building, electrical, and sprinkler blueprints as required.
  • Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and handle necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
  • Manage installation teams on larger projects as needed.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

Requirements

  • State of Washington General Journey Level Electrician (EL01) license or Master Limited Energy System (EL06) license.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of low voltage experience.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics, and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools, multi-meter usage, and handheld power tools.
  • Ability to pass an MVR, Background Check, and Drug Test.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and occasional weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Software House, Lenel, Kantech, Amag, Hirsch, Genetec, ExacqVision and/or Bosch VMS certifications.
  • NICET II certification or currently enrolled in the NICET program and will obtain the NICET II certification within one year.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of security video surveillance, access control, and/or fire alarm experience.
