About the position
The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring and patrolling the hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and employees while protecting hotel assets. This role involves maintaining a secure environment through protective and enforcement functions, responding to emergencies, and managing disturbances in a courteous manner. The position requires physical activity, effective communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and patrol hotel property to ensure safety of guests and employees.
- Perform foot patrols, walking and climbing stairs to identify potential security risks.
- Respond to emergencies and assist guests with safety issues, such as door lock problems.
- Handle violations of hotel policy and civil laws to maintain order.
- Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls, responding based on priority.
- Memorize and monitor life safety systems, including building layout and emergency equipment locations.
- Receive, record, and store lost and found items, responding to guest inquiries.
- Escort guests and employees to parking lots as required.
- Report unsafe conditions and accidents to management.
- Assist Front Desk Personnel when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- Prior law enforcement or military experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the hotel layout and surrounding areas.
- Ability to effectively deal with customers, requiring patience and diplomacy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
- Proficient in operating a computer, printer, copier, and telephone.
