About the position

The position involves maintaining the security of grounds and/or buildings by conducting security and safety inspections or rounds, either on foot or in a motor vehicle. Responsibilities include checking for unusual or abnormal conditions, securing buildings, monitoring intrusion detection equipment, and screening individuals entering and leaving the premises. The role may also involve assisting with investigations of crimes, complaints, or accidents, providing safety escort services, preparing reports, documenting incidents, and routing related information. Additionally, the position may assist with Dispatch Operations and other related tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security and safety inspections or rounds on foot and/or in a motor vehicle.
• Check for unusual or abnormal conditions or occurrences.
• Secure buildings and monitor intrusion detection equipment.
• Screen and check persons entering and leaving premises.
• Assist with investigations of crimes, complaints, or accidents.
• Provide safety escort services.
• Prepare reports and document incidents.
• Route related information and assist with Dispatch Operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent.
• One (1) year of full-time equivalent community service or similar experience involving interaction with diverse backgrounds.
• Valid driver's license and ability to establish driver eligibility under CSU's Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
• Ability to report to work during emergency situations, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.
• Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

• Possession of State of Ohio Private Security Academy Training.
• Security experience in a university setting.
• Preference for candidates with unarmed security experience.
