About The Position

ADESA, a Carvana owned company, is seeking a Security Guard for its Charlotte location. ADESA operates over 50 locations across the US, providing a wide array of vehicle services including repair & reconditioning, auction remarketing, and serving as market hub distribution centers. The company emphasizes a collaborative, fun, fast-paced, and competitive work environment with a focus on growth and investment. The Security Guard will be an integral part of the Security Team, responsible for ensuring the safety of associates, customers, and assets. This role serves as the face of ADESA to customers, vendors, and associates, playing a key role in inventory control procedures and utilizing ADESA technology. The position is hourly and reports to the Operations or designated manager, with potential for varied shifts and weekend work.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years of experience within a customer service environment
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to relate well with others and establish strong working relationships
  • Ability to handle conflict situations in a positive way
  • Ability to accurately enter data on a handheld device or computer
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Requires computer data entry skills
  • Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements
  • Able to safely drive a variety of make/model/sizes of vehicles
  • Requires standing for extended periods
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Hiring is contingent on passing a complete background check.

Responsibilities

  • Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises.
  • Sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergency.
  • Verify only authorized individuals enter the property.
  • Provide facility directions to customers, vendors and transporters.
  • Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit property.
  • Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property.
  • Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt and courteous service.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
  • De-escalate situations to ensure positive outcomes and collaboration.
  • Using a handheld device, input vehicle information including the VIN number, miles, owner identification, vehicle options, repair orders and any other pertinent information.
  • Verify the VIN number being entered matches the VIN number on the shipper’s Bill of Lading.
  • Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and doors left unsecured.
  • Account for and identify all keys, codes or other safety and security information.
  • Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers.
  • Maintain good operating condition of all equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers.
  • Notify management of all breakdowns and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment.
  • Practice and promote teamwork continuously.
  • Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
  • Maintain a good flow of communication with all auction team members and leaders.
