About the position

The Secondary Teacher Floater at Jones Head Start is responsible for promoting the school readiness of children ages 3 to 5 by assisting in the implementation of Early Childhood Development learning experiences and activities. This role involves working cooperatively with the Primary Teacher to create a safe and healthy learning environment, maintain records, and encourage parent participation in their child's education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans
• Knowledge of the curriculum and assessments
• Assist in setting up and organizing the classroom
• Help to create and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for all children
• Assist in maintaining complete and concise records for each child
• Assist in implementing IEP's for children with disabilities
• Complete daily attendance records, meals served, etc.
• Assist in the inventory of classroom materials and supplies, and store as directed
• Assist with visits to the homes of parents or guardians of children assigned to classroom
• Assist with making staff parent conferences
• Encourage parent participation in special activities, etc.
• Assist with lunchroom and bus duties, as assigned
• Assist with recruitment and enrollment
• Assist with classroom clean-up, including bathroom
• Perform other duties as directed

Requirements

• Must have CDA or Diploma or TCC in ECE from Technical school
• Must possess a valid first aid and CPR certification
• Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)
• Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)
• Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.
