About The Position

The Lincoln County Highway Department welcomes applications for Seasonal Highway Workers. This position is based in Canton. This is a great outdoor summer job working 40 hours a week with 3-day weekends! The work schedule would be Monday - Thursday 6a - 4:30p. This position would start May and go until August. Previous experience is not required, and we will provide the training.

Requirements

• Applicants must be age 18 by date of hire
• must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and a physical including a drug screening, vision and or hearing test.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, occasionally perform heavy lifting of 50lbs, and perform heavy manual work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and comply with verbal and written instructions and to maintain a variety of records.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working for a highway department in construction, bridge maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and or experience working in a similar environment is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for crew safety by flagging, setting out cones and signage, and cleaning up roads after the work is complete.
• Assisting in road repair asphalt paving, sealing, general clean up, delivering materials, loading/unloading materials, and other related duties.
• Other responsibilities such as weed maintenance, fence repair and other semi-skilled labor tasks may be expected.
