This position rides with the Delivery Service Representative on established routes to ensure accurate, on-time delivery for GFS customers within standard operating procedures. Requirements
- Physically fit and able to repeatedly lift, stack, pull and carry heavy items (up to 80 lbs)
- Strong communication and customer service skills with English fluency
- Ability to work in a variety of weather, temperature and road conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be goal-oriented with a positive, “can do” attitude
- This position requires punctuality and attention to detail
Nice To Haves
- Previous professional driving experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Correctly offloading products to customer locations
- Assisting the Delivery Service Representatives with product delivery and other duties as assigned
- Manually sorting and unloading food products and hand-wheeling them into the customer locations with the use of ramps and occasionally stairs (approx. 600 - 1000 cases/shift)
- Operating straight trucks or trailers safely and professionally to transport goods and materials over urban, short inter-urban and rural routes
- Conducting routine pre/post-trip truck inspections and maintaining accurate records of delivery routes, temperature logs, count sheets and incident reporting
- Performing product delivery verification at the customer location and maintaining customer invoices
- Following health and safety and safe work procedures
- Providing exceptional service to build and maintain quality customer relationships
