About the position

The Seasonal Biological Technician - Wildlife position at the County of Marin involves working in the wildlife program from February through October. Responsibilities

• Conduct wildlife monitoring and inventory.
• Perform habitat assessments and data management.
• Ensure project compliance and collaborate with other teams.
• Service wildlife cameras and assist with docent programs.
• Conduct nesting bird habitat and behavior surveys.
• Perform bat habitat assessments and emergence surveys.
• Carry out preconstruction surveys and construction monitoring.
• Treat invasive plants and participate in restoration planting activities.
• Monitor and collect plant and wildlife population data.
• Map and record work completed using GPS/GIS.

Requirements

• Six months of experience in biological monitoring, wildlife surveying, or habitat assessments.
• Completion of 12 semester units or 18 quarter units in environmental science, forest/wildlife ecology, or biological science may substitute for experience.
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor and lift materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with nest searching and bird identification by sight and sound.
• Familiarity with local flora and fauna.
• Willingness to learn four-wheel drive vehicle operations and digital mapping techniques, including ArcGIS.
