About the position

The Seafood Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining the seafood department, ensuring it is well-stocked, appealing, and meets customer requirements. This role involves customer interaction, product handling, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the department.

Responsibilities

• Keep seafood area well stocked and appealing to meet customer requirements.
• Smile and greet customers, make suggestions, and provide information on seafood preparation.
• Take orders for future delivery and help fill special requests.
• Help resolve customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Set up displays and rotate product as needed.
• Ensure that seafood is fresh, in saleable condition with proper prices and signage.
• Handle spoiled, damaged, or close to expiration products according to company procedures.
• Weigh and wrap merchandise for customers and apply stickers showing price and weight.
• Maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality.
• Adhere to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or utilizing kitchen tools.
• Responsible for general sanitation of the department and follow cleaning schedules.
• Help manager control inventory through proper ordering and minimize losses by returning products to refrigeration.
• Report shortages or overages to manager.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries if properly trained.
• Ensure smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors.
• Utilize all company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Assist in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Education and/or experience completed or working towards a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• No prior experience required.
