About the position

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) position at Amazon focuses on enhancing the quality of software through automation and testing. SDETs collaborate with Software Development Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to understand project features, design technical solutions, and implement automated testing tools. The role emphasizes understanding customer usage models to create effective test plans and cases, ensuring high-quality deliverables that improve customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Understand software internals and debug code.
• Automate repetitive tasks and implement new tools and frameworks to streamline quality processes.
• Work directly with Software Development Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to understand project features and review technical designs.
• Develop test plans and test cases that approximate real-world environments and scenarios.
• Own the automation and test quality of major deliverables end-to-end.
• Collaborate closely with multiple engineers to ensure quality and efficiency in deliverables.

Requirements

• Experience building test automation frameworks and tools.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
• Experience building and designing test cases including knowledge of test methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience developing product test frameworks.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (bash, python, etc.).
• Experience with open source tools and resources.
