About the position
The Scrap Metal Buyer Trainee position is a full-time role designed for individuals looking to enter the metal recycling industry. This 12-month training program combines operational and commodity trading training, providing hands-on experience in various aspects of the business, including identifying, grading, and pricing commodities, as well as understanding daily operations, logistics, and relationship management with suppliers and consumers. Successful trainees may advance into sales or operations management roles within the company.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a 12-month training program blending operations and commodity trading training.
- Learn to identify, grade, and price commodities under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Gain experience in daily operations, shipping and receiving, processing, and packaging.
- Understand safety and environmental protocols in a metal recycling facility.
- Learn about domestic and international logistics related to metal recycling.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and consumers alongside the sales staff.
- Work with the operations team to understand effective and efficient facility management.
Requirements
- Consistent work experience and/or a bachelor's degree.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and effectively multi-task.
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination.
