About the position

The Scientist, Systems Engineer (ACE - Unmanned Underwater Vehicles) position at L3Harris involves working on advanced concepts for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) within Maritime Programs. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong communication skills to develop compliant technical solutions that meet customer needs while addressing emergent opportunities and evolving threats. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to mission-critical maritime solutions that enhance national security.

Responsibilities

• Meet with internal and external customers to understand needs, requirements, budgets, and timeframes to develop compliant technical solutions.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and decision-makers to solidify L3Harris's position as a trusted advisor.
• Liaise with Business Development and provide engineering guidance to pursuits.
• Work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to emergent project priorities.
• Develop technical documentation in support of gate review activities.
• Ensure systematic development of total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Develop statements of work, technical volumes, project plans, resource estimates, and material needs.
• Orchestrate artifact development within a collaborative matrix of engineering and functional support staff.
• Develop concepts of operation (CONOPS) and Use Cases.
• Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams to develop solutions meeting customer requirements.
• Communicate technical information to diverse audiences, including customers with varying levels of technical acumen.
• Author and co-author whitepapers to document advanced concept solutions that address emergent requirements.
• Travel to meet in person with customers and strategic partners for current and future development opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
• Current TS/SCI Security Clearance.
• Experience working with US Government customers.
• 10 years of relevant experience in Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) engineering, including extensive knowledge of the industry, vehicle platforms, payload options, and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with engineering processes and the ability to adapt innovative solutions to emergent missions.
