About the position

RIDGEVIEW, a not-for-profit community mental health center specializing in social work, counseling, and therapy, has expanded our existing School-Based Behavioral Health Liaison program. We have an immediate opening for a School-Based Behavioral Health Liaison (basically, Outpatient Therapist) to be embedded in Anderson County Schools. This is a year round position where you will deliver direct therapy to students and coach staff on engaging students with behavioral health needs. Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face consultation with classroom teachers to assist them in creating positive, trauma-informed classroom environments.
  • Enhance the learning environment for children at risk of developing an emotional/behavioral problem or substance use disorder.
  • Provide training and education regarding childhood mental health and trauma-informed behavior responses in the classroom.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups and other support as needed to youth identified by teachers and/or other school officials.
  • Provide liaison support between the family and the school.
  • Assist parents and youth with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process and with trauma-informed support plans.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
  • Experience with children and/or adolescents, especially in a social work or therapy/counseling capacity, preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in creating positive, trauma-informed classroom environments.
  • Skills in building rapport with clients through empathic listening, caring, and warmth.
  • Ability to encourage and motivate individuals to tackle their mental health and behavioral problems effectively.
