About The Position

The School Operations Manager is a leadership position responsible for strategically overseeing the school operations team and third-party services. This role ensures operational excellence by driving systems-level planning, execution, and evaluation across key areas, including financial management, vendor relations, facilities, and school-wide logistics. This individual will guide cross-functional collaboration, manage accounts payable and school purchases, maintain inventory and budget reports, oversee facilities, and provide strategic operational support. The Operations Manager holds the team accountable to meeting a high standard of efficiency, accuracy, and service, and partners with school and network leadership to ensure systems are aligned to ambitious school-wide goals.

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, with preference given to degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience, or equivalent, in accounts payable, procurement, or operations, with demonstrated expertise in managing budgets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and budget management software

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage members of the school’s operations team, setting a clear operational vision aligned with school priorities and high standards for execution
  • Work with school leadership and the MSS Network team to plan the annual school budget, monitor budget utilization, and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and risks
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations and school leaders to assess the effectiveness of operational systems and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Lead the planning and execution of school-based events and field trips, including the event request and approval process, procurement, contracting external vendors, and leading the Operations team in event set up and support
  • Manage and support family and volunteer initiatives
  • Managed accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing transactions, monitoring budgets and expenditures, overseeing tuition and fee collections, reconciling credit card payments and refunds, preparing financial reports, and handling deposits and disbursements for school, departmental, and student activity accounts.
  • Managed procurement and inventory operations, including purchasing curriculum materials, textbooks, supplies, uniforms, furniture, and equipment; maintaining supply inventories and stock levels; and overseeing accurate inventory records for school assets.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations in managing the school’s facility maintenance, including vendor and contractor relationships
  • Managed school communications by coordinating website and social media updates, distributing newsletters and policy notifications, and communicating with families through email, phone, text, and print materials
