About The Position

The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville is accepting applications for a highly organized and service-oriented Department Assistant to provide administrative support to the faculty, staff, and Director of the School of Education. This position serves as the school’s primary point of contact, coordinates office operations, and works closely with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners to support a welcoming, efficient, and student-centered environment. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit and paid leave eligible position, with an hourly rate of $20.50.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in an administrative or office environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to develop proficiency with specialized university software programs necessary to perform the duties required for this position.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and confidentially with students, faculty, staff, administration, and external constituents.
  • Ability to troubleshoot administrative and technical issues.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the School of Education’s primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and campus partners.
  • Provides administrative support to the faculty, staff, and Director of the School of Education.
  • Coordinates office operations, communication, scheduling, events, projects, and related logistics.
  • Maintains electronic and physical records, files, and digital resources in accordance with established procedures.
  • Develops and maintains organizational systems and workflows to support department operations and improve processes.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to office technology, systems, and department operations.
  • Monitors school budgets and expenses and assists with budget-related tracking activities.
  • Oversees front office operations and contributes to a welcoming, efficient, and student-centered environment.
  • Supervises, trains, and provides day-to-day guidance to student workers.
  • Supports faculty and staff recruitment activities and manages scheduling and academic materials for assigned units.
