About The Position

The School Library Media Coordinator at National Heritage Online Academy – North Carolina works cooperatively with the Library Technology Specialist (LTS) to manage the central library and assist the LTS in managing the school’s technology. This role involves facilitating library classes, managing the library collection, and promoting reading and research skills among students.

Requirements

Knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
Understanding of and capability to navigate technical systems.

Responsibilities

Manage the central library and assist the LTS in managing the school’s technology.
Facilitate library classes in partnership with the Library Technology Specialist (LTS).
Manage a central library by making resources available to students and teachers through a systematically developed and organized collection of library materials.
Maintain library collection by cataloging books, creating spine labels, barcoding books, shelving, organizing, weeding, repairing books, and keeping track of library fines or lost books.
Analyze the collection to order new books to add to the collection.
Manage book circulation by checking in/out books, putting books on hold, and assisting patrons with how to find books using the Dewey Decimal Classification system.
Assist teachers in promoting reading and guide students in the individual choice of books for recreation and research reading to promote lifelong learning by fostering positive attitude.
Per teacher request choose and select age-appropriate books to align to curricular topic of study.
Assist the LTS in end-of-year Moral Focus Library and central Library inventory.
Uphold expectations of Acceptable Use policy as outlined in the NHA Parent / Student Handbook for use of library and media resources.
Manage Moral Focus Library and complete end-of-year inventory.
