About the position

The School Library Assistant I plays a vital role in supporting the library's operations within the Alvord Unified School District. This position involves assisting students and staff in accessing library resources, maintaining library materials, and ensuring a welcoming environment for learning and exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students and staff in locating library materials and resources.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of library materials and spaces.
  • Support library programs and activities as directed by the librarian.
  • Assist with the circulation of library materials, including checking in and checking out books.
  • Provide basic technology support to library users as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Typing speed certification may be required at the time of hire.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students and staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a library or educational setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with library management systems and technology.
