Murdoch Center’s School Educators (Teachers) work collaboratively with a team of professionals to identify programming and behavioral research-based interventions and techniques to address their individual needs. The teacher will design the classroom environment based on student needed while promoting independence and positive appropriate behaviors based on team recommendations. Duties include: Conducting educational assessments and preparing written educational evaluations on all assigned children. Developing and implementing IEP’s that reflect skills and instruction as they relate to the extensions of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and Extended Content Standards. Conducting individual and group training and classes. Administering required tests: writing lesson plans; systematically recording and analyzing data of student performance; and providing maintenance activities for the retention of learned skills. Setting up training areas prior to start of each class, obtaining appropriate training materials; monitoring and reporting goal progress; modeling classroom expectations to YPEA (Youth Program Educational Assistants) support staff. Working collaboratively with Division team members. Attending meetings related to students including Person Center Plan meetings, Program Review meetings, admission, transition, and discharge meetings, participating collaboratively in all meetings to share individual data and skills. Completing identified paperwork in a timely manner; knowledge of ICF/MR regulations; and assisting the specialized services treatment team upon request. Position reports directly to and is administratively and clinically supervised by the Director of Educational Services/Principal. This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
