The School Counselor will be responsible for promoting the school system's counseling program by possessing the knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes necessary to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, developmental, results-based school counseling program. This role involves providing system support through effective school counseling program management and support for other educational programs, as well as direct and indirect services with and for students. The counselor will provide responsive services through individual and small-group counseling, consultation, and referral skills, and implement the school counseling curriculum through effective instructional skills and careful planning of structured group sessions. For students in grades 6-12, the counselor will provide information for postsecondary plans, financial aid, and scholarship information, plan and coordinate the advisement program, evaluate transcripts, and conduct exit interviews. The counselor will also follow the system’s procedures in referring students to a local school support team and perform other assigned duties.
