About the position

The School Aide position involves working closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department. The role includes providing support for personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as well as facilitating learning activities and adhering to confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow through with IEP objectives including math, reading, speech, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
• Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities including lesson plans, worksheets, and small groups.
• Assist students in general education classes.
• Communicate pertinent information to teachers.
• Accompany students during recess and lunch periods.
• Adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students and parents.
• Assist with activities of prescribed programs by related service personnel.
• Help students develop independent skills through self-care activities.
• Assist in behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher.
• Support the teacher with clerical duties and classroom organization.
• Assist with transfers and ambulation.

Requirements

• Valid CPR Certification
• Experience in computer skills
• Proficiency in English language
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
