About the position

A National preferred SBA bank is seeking a dedicated and experienced SBA Lender to join their team in Kingsport, Tennessee. This is a permanent remote position that offers a unique opportunity to work independently while contributing to the growth of the bank's SBA loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building their own SBA loan portfolio and will be responsible for developing new loan business through direct calling on referrals from both inside and outside bank partners. The role requires a proactive approach to meet and exceed production-related goals on new loans, ensuring that each loan request is thoroughly understood, properly underwritten, and monitored through weekly pipeline sales meetings. In this position, the SBA Lender will be tasked with screening out non-target deals early and efficiently, collecting necessary information from loan applicants, and responding to inquiries from the credit department regarding the underwriting process. The ability to effectively present information to senior management is crucial, as is the capacity to work closely with customers throughout the application and closing process. Establishing a strong referral network and building relationships with commercial real estate brokers, loan brokers, CPAs, and other referral sources will be essential for soliciting new SBA loan leads. Additionally, the SBA Lender will need to maintain a working knowledge of lending-related legal and regulatory compliance issues and participate in regular sales and marketing meetings to promote the bank's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Direct calling on referrals from inside and outside bank partners to develop new loan business.
  • Meet/exceed production-related goals on new loans, per individual lender LO.
  • Screen out non-target deals early and efficiently.
  • Collect necessary information from loan applicants for loan requests to be understood, properly underwritten, and monitored through weekly pipeline sales meetings.
  • Respond to the credit department's questions pertaining to the underwriting process to determine the creditworthiness of loan applicants.
  • Effectively present information to senior management.
  • Work with customers throughout the application and closing process.
  • Establish strong referral network and relationships with commercial real estate brokers, loan brokers, CPAs, and other referral sources to solicit new SBA loan leads.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of success in building one's own SBA loan portfolio.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • A mindset of abundance, suitable for individuals who want to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to preflight a deal to assess creditworthiness.
  • 5+ years of 7(a) lending experience.
  • History of producing $10MM+/year in loans.
  • Almost or 100% self-sourced loan portfolio.
  • Community bank background preferred.
