About the position

The Sauté Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes using the sauté method, managing the sauté station in the kitchen, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared and served to order. This role requires collaboration with other kitchen staff, maintaining a clean work environment, and managing inventory and supplies. The Sauté Chef may also assist in menu development and train junior chefs, while adhering to food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing ingredients for sauté dishes, such as chopping vegetables and meats.
  • Cooking a variety of dishes using the sauté method, including meats, seafood, and vegetables.
  • Managing the sauté station in the kitchen and ensuring that all dishes are prepared and cooked to order.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including washing pots, pans, and utensils.
  • Collaborating with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure that dishes are prepared and served on time.
  • Managing inventory and placing orders for supplies and ingredients as needed.
  • Assisting with menu development and suggesting new dishes or specials.
  • Ensuring that all food is prepared and stored according to food safety guidelines.
  • Training and supervising junior chefs and kitchen staff.

Requirements

  • Culinary education or professional cooking experience.
  • Strong cooking skills, particularly in the sauté method.
  • Knowledge of food safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to stand for long periods of time.
