About the position
The Sanitation Operator position at Griffith Foods is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the plant during the 3rd shift, which runs from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am. This role involves using cleaning chemicals safely, operating sanitation equipment, and ensuring that all production equipment meets cleanliness standards. The position requires flexibility to work overtime, including weekends, and involves various physical tasks related to sanitation operations.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily work assignments.
- Operate riding scrubber and forklift.
- Disassemble and detail clean manufacturing equipment in mixing and packaging.
- Complete all monthly, quarterly, and yearly duties as assigned by supervision.
- Participate in major project work that includes dust collection system cleanouts, overhead pipes in warehouse and manufacturing areas.
- Complete monthly maintenance checks of all sanitation equipment.
- Ensure that all process equipment is clean and passes ATP swab testing as part of the startup process at the beginning of the week.
- Patch and caulk wall/floor areas.
- Work from heights of 30 feet using scissor lifts or boom lift.
- Operate recycling bailers.
- Operate Gama jets for holding bins.
- Properly clean chemical spills.
- Keep plant tour and audit ready at all times.
- Calibrate chemical use.
- Perform confined entry tasks.
- Follow Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic mechanical and painting skills.
- 3 months sanitation experience is required.
- Able to operate a forklift and successfully complete Griffith Foods Forklift training program.
- Must be able to complete Sanitation Operator Training annually or as needed per the Alsip Plant Sanitation Operator Training.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, using hands or fingers, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and talking, occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, frequently moving or lifting up to 50lbs, and occasionally up to 100lbs.
