About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Sandblasting / Debur / Degreasing Technician. The company is Nico Products in Minneapolis, MN. The shift is 3:00 pm - 1:00 am, Monday-Thursday, with overtime as needed, resulting in a 4-day work week. New hires will train on the first shift (5 am-3 pm) for 1 to 3 months. The pay is $22.00/hour, with a $1500.00 signing bonus for eligible candidates. The company is looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, reliability, and initiative, even if they have no prior experience, as training will be provided. This role is in the metal finishing/plating industry, which is crucial for various sectors like medical devices, aerospace, and defense. The company emphasizes that work ethic, reliability, and initiative are key qualities they cannot train. They conduct in-person interviews only and require candidates to reside in MN or have definite relocation plans. The work environment is a warehouse with exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and noise, and involves hands-on, active work. Strict security protocols are in place, including restrictions on personal mobile devices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
• 0-2 years experience or machinery operations experience
• Experience working with various types of metals
• Ability to maintain a regular and reliable attendance record
• Fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must be a US citizen or have authorization to work in the US
• Ability to pay attention to detail and follow written instructions
• Good organizational skills and the ability to follow instructions
• Basic math and geometry
• Ability to read an analog clock
• Ability to read a ruler/tape measure
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
• Perform duties with safety in mind
• Good hand/eye coordination
• Ability to lift as needed
• Ability to interact with coworkers and supervisors in a cooperative manner
• Must adhere to strict security policies including restrictions on personal electronic devices, access control, and documentation procedures.
• Must comply with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of sandblasting, deburring, degreasing techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

• Upholds company policies and procedures
• Reads Work Orders and Purchase Orders to determine specific blasting/degreasing/deburring instructions.
• Coordinates with Shift Supervisor for scheduling jobs.
• Completes all required paperwork for each job
• Logs completed jobs into the company tracking system
• Meet expected rates, as outlined by Supervisor.
• Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Examine completed part to ensure it meets Quality standards
• Operate sandblasting equipment to clean, smooth, or roughen surfaces using abrasive media.
• Use deburring tools and machines, such as hand files, grinders, and polishing tools to remove sharp edges, burrs,, and excess material from machines parts.
• Operate degreasing machines or use chemical solutions to clean metal parts of oils, grease, and other contaminants before further processing.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on sandblasting, deburring, and degreasing equipment.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
